The China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) is a standardized entrance examination for international students applying to undergraduate programs in China. Administered for applicants planning to study in China, it provides universities with a common academic reference for undergraduate admission and scholarship review.
Depending on the intended university and major, an applicant may need to take Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and/or Chinese Language. A CSCA result is an important reference in many applications, but it is not a universal admission or scholarship guarantee. Each university decides which subjects it requires and how it evaluates the results.
Independent guidance: From 2026, CSCA results are used in many Chinese university and scholarship application routes. Exact subject, score, and submission requirements vary by university, major, and application channel. Use this independent guide for planning, then verify every requirement on csca.cn and with your target university before registering or paying.
Exam format
CSCA is primarily delivered as a remotely proctored, home-based online exam. Test centers are also available in a number of countries and regions, where the exam is generally administered in a supervised computer-based setting. Available formats and locations depend on the test session; select only from the options shown in the official registration system.
Scores and results
Each CSCA subject is scored on a 0–100 scale. The score serves as a reference: universities set their own admission standards according to the academic requirements of each program. There is no universal passing score that applies to every university or major.
Results for both home-based online exams and centrally administered computer-based exams are scheduled for release within 10 business days after the test session. Applicants should allow enough time for score release and any submission or verification step required by the university.
