The application route determines where you apply, which organization reviews or nominates you, and which deadline controls the submission. Identify the route before preparing a final document set.
Common route patterns
| Route pattern | Questions to answer |
|---|---|
| Through a nominating authority | Who is authorized, is pre-screening required and what is its local deadline? |
| Through a university | Is admission submitted separately and does the university nominate candidates? |
| Through a scholarship portal | Is another university or authority submission also required? |
| Automatic university consideration | Which admitted applicants are considered and is an additional form required? |
These are planning patterns, not universal categories. Follow the exact wording of the current official notice.
Campus China's Chinese Government Scholarship guide illustrates why the route matters: its Bilateral, Chinese University, UNESCO, EU, AUN, Pacific Islands Forum and WMO routes direct applicants to different authorities. The information system is one part of the process; it does not replace a required nomination or university submission.
Track identifiers carefully
A route may use organization codes, program categories, application numbers or nominated-institution details. Obtain them from the responsible official source. A valid-looking code from an older guide can direct an application to the wrong channel.
Use the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System only through the link provided by Campus China or the responsible authority. Before selecting a category or agency number, confirm it in the current instructions for your route.
One scholarship can have more than one deadline
Record each deadline separately:
- Nominating-authority deadline
- Scholarship portal deadline
- University admission deadline
- University scholarship deadline
- Document-posting or verification deadline, when stated
The earliest applicable deadline should drive your plan.
Avoid duplicate or conflicting applications
Do not submit through several routes for the same award unless the rules explicitly permit it. Duplicate records can contain different program choices or documents. Ask the responsible authority which route applies before creating another submission.
