Zhejiang University Scholarships 2027

Compare Zhejiang University scholarship routes for 2027 entry, including Chinese Government, Zhejiang Government and program-specific awards.

Zhejiang University publishes separate scholarship routes for international undergraduate, master's, doctoral and non-degree applicants. These awards do not share one application, one deadline or one funding package. Some are administered through the China Scholarship Council, while others are funded by Zhejiang Province or an individual ZJU school.

2027 application status: The official pages reviewed for this guide describe the 2026 intake, standing scholarship arrangements or, in one case, a 2025 school-level award. The published 2026 deadlines have passed. Use them to understand the routes, but wait for the official notice for the intended intake before relying on dates, eligible programs or award amounts.

Chinese Government Scholarship Routes

Type A: Bilateral Program

The Type A Bilateral Program is administered through the dispatching authority in the applicant's home country, such as the relevant government agency or Chinese embassy. Applicants name Zhejiang University as the proposed institution, but ZJU does not directly accept the scholarship application. The categories available in each country may differ.

ZJU's 2026 page says the bilateral route may support undergraduate and graduate students, general scholars, senior scholars and certain Chinese-language study. It also states that Type A is the Chinese Government Scholarship route available for undergraduate study. The actual scholarship may be full or partial, so applicants must confirm the award category with the dispatching authority.

Applicants who need a ZJU pre-admission notice must also complete the university's international student application process. A pre-admission notice is supporting material for the scholarship application and is not a final admission offer. The 2026 notice used a December-to-February pre-admission window and described January to early April as the general bilateral application period; neither is a confirmed 2027 schedule.

Type B: Chinese University Program

The Type B Chinese University Program is ZJU's principal university-administered Chinese Government Scholarship route for full-time international postgraduate students. The 2026 guide describes a full scholarship covering tuition, on-campus accommodation or an accommodation allowance, a stipend under the applicable standard and comprehensive medical insurance.

Applicants complete both the CSC online application and the Zhejiang University international student application. ZJU's agency number is 10335, and the CSC application category is Type B. The university also requires the admission documents for the chosen master's or doctoral program, the CSC application form, a qualifying physical examination record and a recent non-criminal record certificate.

The 2026 application deadline was December 31, 2025, and ZJU charged a non-refundable RMB 800 application fee. Selection included document review and a school-arranged video interview, followed by ZJU nomination and CSC review. These details show the application sequence but must be checked against the next official guide.

Youth of Excellence Scheme of China

The Youth of Excellence Scheme of China, or YES China, is a full Chinese Government Scholarship for experienced applicants with leadership potential and cross-cultural competence. ZJU's 2026 notice listed tuition, on-campus accommodation, a stipend and comprehensive medical insurance.

The available English-taught master's programs in that notice were Energy and Power Engineering, China Studies and Chinese Economy. The first and third used a two-year "1+1" model, with the first academic year at ZJU and thesis work completed from the applicant's home country during the second year. China Studies was listed as a one-year program.

The 2026 eligibility required applicants to be non-Chinese citizens under 45, hold at least a bachelor's degree and normally have at least three years of work experience. It targeted senior public officials, senior institutional or business managers, university administrators, and applicants with relevant international-organization experience. This is a specialized professional route rather than a general master's scholarship.

Zhejiang Government Scholarship

International Undergraduate Students

The 2026 undergraduate notice limited this award to international applicants for Chinese-taught bachelor's programs. It listed RMB 20,000 in funding for one year, with the possibility of applying again after strong academic and overall performance. Applicants could not hold another scholarship at the same time.

The official Chinese page contains an internally inconsistent date range: it begins in December 2025 but gives an end date in February 2025. This appears to be a publishing error, but it should not be silently corrected. Applicants must use the current ZJU application system and the latest undergraduate guide to confirm the real deadline.

New International Postgraduate Students

The postgraduate route is open to applicants who meet ZJU's master's or doctoral admission requirements, demonstrate strong academic performance and are not receiving another scholarship. The 2026 notice listed RMB 30,000 for one year and allowed high-performing students to apply again in a later year.

Applicants submit the Zhejiang Government Scholarship form and the required admission materials through ZJU's international student system. The university makes a competitive recommendation after document review and a school interview. The 2026 deadline was February 28, 2026 and must not be reused for the next intake.

University and Program-specific Scholarships

Lead Scholarship for New MBBS Students

The International School of Medicine offers this award to newly admitted MBBS students with exceptional academic merit. Its standing page lists an award of RMB 20,000 for approximately 5% of new MBBS students.

There is no separate scholarship application. Candidates must be formally admitted to the MBBS program and have prepaid tuition. The admission committee considers school results, standardized tests, English proficiency and online interview performance. A recipient cannot concurrently hold a Chinese Government Scholarship or another scholarship.

New Sinology Program

ZJU's 2026 New Sinology notice described two doctoral routes for overseas scholars working in China-related humanities and social sciences.

The joint doctoral research route supports students who remain registered for a doctorate at an overseas university and spend one semester to two academic years at ZJU. The notice required at least HSK Level 3. The PhD degree route supports eligible master's graduates undertaking a ZJU doctorate, normally for three to four years, and required at least HSK Level 5.

The official notice describes support for tuition, living and research allowances, together with academic activities and possible later research support. Applicants use both the New Sinology platform and ZJU's international student system. The 2026 deadline was February 28, 2026, so the next application cycle requires a new notice.

School and International Campus Awards

ZJU's central scholarship directory also links to awards administered by individual schools and campuses. These include scholarships connected with ZJU-UoE Institute dual degrees, the Global Communication and Management program, ZIBS, ZJE, ocean-related graduate study and doctoral medicine at the International School of Medicine.

These awards should be checked on the responsible school's own admissions page because eligible programs and funding terms differ. For example, the accessible International School of Medicine doctoral scholarship page still publishes a February 2025 deadline and 2025 result schedule. Its funding figures should therefore be treated as historical, not as a current 2027 offer.

Build a 2027 Application Plan

  1. Start with the exact ZJU degree, school and teaching language. Scholarship eligibility may be limited to postgraduate study, Chinese-taught undergraduate study, MBBS or a named English-taught program.
  2. Decide whether the route is administered by a home-country authority, CSC and ZJU together, Zhejiang Province, or a ZJU school.
  3. Check whether the scholarship needs a separate form, a second platform application or no additional application at all.
  4. For CSC applications, confirm the correct Type A or Type B category and the responsible agency before submitting.
  5. Prepare academic records, language evidence, recommendations, passport material and any required physical examination or non-criminal record certificate early.
  6. Check restrictions on holding another scholarship and whether the award can be renewed or requires annual review.
  7. Use the official notice for the intended intake to confirm the deadline, eligible programs, funding package and submission instructions before paying or applying.
